Depends on what program came with the printer that does Optical Character Recognition (OCR).
Sometimes, people will only install the print drivers from the disk they get with their printer. Make sure you install the program that does the OCR.
After that, open the program, import the image and be on your way.
OCR - Optical Character Recognition.
OCR is not a function of your printer, but a function of your scanner. It is how well your scanner can recognize the printed or written characters. This varies by scanner and the scanning software included with your scanner.
With that said, your printer should include two type faces known as OCR-A and OCR-B. Supposedly, but not always, these typefaces are easier for scanners to recognize. (e.g.: Currently I am having difficulties @ my work with OCR-A off of a Samsung printer, but not a Lexmark.)
