Your printer may not recognize the correct ink levels because it is holding the memory from the previously used cartridges. However, a printer reset should resolve the recognition problem. To reset your printer please follow these instructions: 鈥?Remove ALL cartridges 鈥?Turn off printer 鈥?Unplug the printer from the power source for a full 5 minutes 鈥?Reverse steps. If you just replaced the cartridge, it could be any of the following reasons:

* It was put in incorrectly. Take it out and try re-seating it in for a better fit. It should snap in easily.

* The cartridge is not compatible. Make sure it's the right cartridge for your printer.

* The cartridge itself is bad or damaged. Try inserting another cartridge, and if that one works, then you know the first one was bad.

* If trying multiple correct cartridges still don't work, the printer might be damage, either the seat where the cartridge goes or the housing where it sits when it rests.
