I have a hp printer and the scanner don't work what can i do it is a 2004 does that matter i have never used the scanner it sayes i need to install soft ware how much is that going to costHp printer?

all software should have been packaged with the printer i also hava a hp printer scanner and once i had to rerun the installion disc that came with it fixed it right up.

You should be able to download the drivers and software straight off the HP Website.

Normally if you go to HP.com and enter the product you need help with in the search query, they will typically have information out there to help resolve whatever issues you're having with there product.
Just go to hp.com search under drivers and software look for your model number and then download the driver this should install everything you need and it's absolutely free.
The software came with it, new. Did you get it at a garage sale? Look online with HP and look for the software and download it on a CD. Keep it for later. Even though it is free, treat it as valuable since you cannot put it on another computer without it.
Look at your printer and make sure you have the right model number. Good luck!
