What is wrong with my HP printer? It has stopped printing what it is asked to print and prints gibberish.?

When I ask my printer to print, it will instead print a single line of gibberish and spit out the sheet. Then it does the same with the next sheet and the next until it uses all the paper. If I put in more paper, it continues to do the same thing. I have purchased new ink cartridges, uninstalled and reinstalled the printer but nothing has helped. What is wrong with my HP printer? I agree with Michael 100%. Try uninstalling the entire drivers and software that came with the printer, While the printer is unplugged from the wall and computer and restart your computer and install it all over again. Make sure it's unplugged from the wall and your computer when you restart your computer. Once that is done, do a TEST PRINT page and see if it needs any corrections.

Just for good measure, unplug the printer, touch something metal to the prongs (one on the flat and one on the round) at the same time toggle the on/off switch, this will zero out the memory and it will be like having a new printer. I had to do that once, then I got smart and bought a BROTHER printer and haven't had any problems since (something to think about) HP SUX !What is wrong with my HP printer? You need to give more details about the printer (model, new old, USB, Wireless, or Serial, Mac, Windows, or Linux/UNIX, etc.) If you do that then I can help, but what you can first try is taking the CD that includes the drivers and try reinstalling the driver software.
